Best MINI electric cars

From the Cooper hatchback to the Countryman: our pick of the best electric MINIs to consider.

Finding the best MINI electric car isn’t as straightforward as it once was. There used to be just one: electric MINI (now the Cooper Electric), but now two more have joined its side.

So, which is the right one for you?

MINI Cooper Electric

Our top pick: MINI Cooper SE Sport

The original electric MINI, the Cooper Electric, launched in 2020.

Since then, it’s seen some nice improvements. With an enhanced range of up to 250 miles, refreshed styling (which we like) and much improved electric technology, it offers an even more enjoyable driving experience – especially in the John Cooper Works (JCW) version.

However, our pick of the bunch has to be the Cooper SE Sport, which takes the SE and gives it the Cooper S treatment.

Featuring extras such as adaptive LED headlights, it comes with more driving assistance aids, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display and auto-dimming folding mirrors.

MINI Aceman Electric

Our top pick: MINI Aceman SE

The MINI Aceman is a compact electric crossover, which sits between the Cooper and Countryman in terms of size.

With a 252-mile range and good efficiency of 3.9 miles/kWh, it’s a no-brainer for most families who can rely on its five seats and 300-litre boot.

Our pick is the middle-ranking Aceman SE because it has more features than the base spec ‘E’. With more driving assistances, a head-up display and a shiny ‘S’ badge on the front – it matches the Cooper SE with features but in a slightly bigger package

MINI Countryman Electric

Our top pick: MINI Countryman SE ALL4

Sitting at the top of the electric MINI tree is the Countryman, which was made into a fully electric model in 2024.

With its 287-mile range and decent 460-litre boot, it’s a compelling choice for families and those who want a raised driving position.

We like the Countryman SE ALL4 model because it has more features than the standard ‘E’ model, including wireless phone charging and a head-up display, as well as all-wheel drive to really put down the power and help you in slippery conditions.
