Star signs can reveal a lot about your interests and personality. But as well as shaping your character traits, zodiac signs might influence other areas of your life, too – including your driving style.
Are you a nervous motorist who’s prone to road rage? Or a perfectionist whose hands are always placed at ‘10 and two’ on the steering wheel of your used Audi or BMW? Your attitude on the road may well be written in the stars.
We've worked with an astrology expert to explore how the horoscope can affect a person’s driving habits.
Our, Sam Sheehan, has also suggested the perfect car model for each star sign.
Aries – Ford Fiesta ST

Known for being bold and ambitious, Aries have little patience for busy roads and traffic jams.
Dr Deborah Maw, experiential astrologer and tutor, said: “Aries like a nippy car – something they can jump in and go at a moment’s notice. They want to avoid traffic and get to their final destination fast.
“They can be prone to a bit of road rage if held up, as they’re impatient to get to where they’ve decided to go. Try breathing and counting to 10 – you’ll get there in a calmer state.”
For drivers born between 21 March and 19 April, Sam, suggests hopping aboard a Ford Fiesta ST. The Fiesta ST is a sporty model with great engine reaction and fuel efficiency, meaning it’s the perfect car for motorists with no time to waste.
Taurus – Volvo XC90

Taureans have a soft spot for comfort and relaxing environments. For this reason, they want a vehicle with ample room and handy add-ons to suit their vibe.
“Taureans like a bigger car than Aries – possibly an SUV,” Dr Maw explained. “The model needs to be secure, reliable, comfortable and with plenty of cup holders!
“They drive in a measured way, possibly annoying other drivers because they’re driving very cautiously. If they believe they have the right of way, they’re unlikely to shift.”
To meet the need for space and security of a Taurus, Sam says that the Volvo XC90 could be right up their street. The XC90 is a good-looking model, offering a clear view of the road thanks to its high driving position as well as a comfortable interior.
Gemini – Fiat 500e

Geminis are driven by an insatiable curiosity and are characterised by a playful personality that always chases several pursuits.
Dr Maw believes that – if they could – Geminis would instead fly or go by train as it gives them a chance to meet new people and get to their final stop quicker. This is why they are more suited to an agile car, equipped with a good stereo system for music, podcasts or language courses.
Sam added: “Geminis and the Fiat 500e are a perfect match. The 500e is small and nippy, allowing you to navigate through traffic with ease and rapidly slip out of junctions.
“What’s more, it has an intuitive and user-friendly infotainment system, making it easy for Geminis to switch on tunes and podcasts to keep their brain entertained.”
Cancer – Land Rover Discovery

Caring, intuitive and emotional, Cancerians want a vehicle that helps them feel protected and that’s roomy enough for spontaneous family trips.
“The car of a Cancerian is likely to be full of picnic remnants, rugs, wellies, or even swimming gear for an impromptu dip,” Dr Maw explained. “As a motorist, they tend to take up a lot of space in the road and drive with caution and patience.”
Based on the sign’s traits and driving style, Sam believes that the Land Rover Discovery has everything a Cancerian needs.
This off-roader can tackle any sort of terrain while boasting a generous boot that can store suitcases and camping equipment for a family getaway.
Leo – BMW 8 Series Convertible

Leos are the kings and queens of the zodiac – they are passionate, extroverted and somewhat theatrical. They love to bask in the spotlight and are likely to turn a few heads en route.
Dr Deborah said: “Leos like to be noticed. They may drive a flashy car, either a convertible or a very expensive model, and possibly red and fast.
“The stereo is likely to be blasting rock music, with the roof down as often as possible and the wind blowing in their hair.”
When it comes to the ideal car model for a Leo, Sam thinks the BMW 8 Series Convertible might tick all the right boxes. With a slick silhouette, dramatic interior and excellent driveability, this car will make fellow drivers stare in awe.
Virgo – Volkswagen Golf
Anyone born between 23 August and September 2023 is the definition of precision. Virgos are logical and systematic in their approach to life – but what’s their attitude behind the wheel?
According to our experiential astrologer, Virgos like a well-organised car that’s very clean and is valeted every week. Even if it’s looking messy, they’ll still know exactly where everything is.
“The Volkswagen Golf offers a mixture of comfort, style and quality – just what a Virgo wants,” Sam commented. “No matter what trim level you opt for, rest assured it’s one of the best-driving hatchbacks on the market.
“For a star sign that revolves around reliability and practicality, the VW Golf is quite simply a no-brainer.”
Sagittarius – Volkswagen California

Sagittarians know no bounds. They are always on the move, seeking new adventures and intellectual experiences.
Dr Maw says that, in the eyes of a Sagittarian, the open road is a real thrill – it’s full of opportunities, places to explore and challenges to overcome. This is why they have a keen preference for sports cars and campervans that can take them from one location to the next.
“For Sagittarians who thrive on strong emotions and new experiences, there’s no better option than the Volkswagen California,” Sam said.
“The California’s driving seat offers a commanding view of the road ahead, meaning you can drive into the horizon with confidence and excitement.”
Capricorn – Skoda Superb Estate

Capricorns’ mantra is that patience and perseverance are the only way forward. To achieve this on the move, they want a reliable car that takes them to their destination in their own time.
“Capricorns are safe and practical motorists,” the astrologer points out. “They prefer a vehicle they can maintain with the minimum amount of servicing; one with a proven history of reliability.
“They have no interest in bright colours, bells or whistles – just good-quality functionality.”
Sam believes the Skoda Superb Estate might be just what a Capricorn is looking for. The Czech car model guarantees a safe and excellent ride without compromising on good looks – and it has a budget-friendly price tag.
Aquarius – Tesla Model S

According to the horoscope, people born between 20 January and 18 February are known to be rebellious, with a keen eye for innovation and progression. That’s why Aquarians will always be the first to try out the most modern car models on the market.
Dr Maw said: “Aquarians like to have the latest technology at their fingertips and may get frustrated at the slow rate of change going on around them. Given a colour choice, they’d probably go for silver or white – streamlined and eco-friendly.
“In terms of transport, Aquarians will always be one step ahead of everyone else, doing their best to use alternative fuels and technology.”
According to our motoring editor, the Tesla Model S will pique the curiosity of Aquarians due to its pioneering performance and unique driving features. The Model S is fully electric and packed with technology, allowing for the futuristic drive they’re craving for.
Pisces – Mercedes-Benz SLC

Last but not least, Pisceans are the most sensitive and empathetic sign of them all. Dr Deborah says they are daydreamers, too, and would rather take it easy than rush to their destination.
When it comes to vehicle choices, Pisceans have a soft spot for quirky and romanticised car models. They also enjoy countryside road trips where they can connect with nature and water.
“The Mercedes-Benz SLC is an attractive choice for Pisceans,” Sam explained. “It’s a recognisable, sporty model that paves the way for open-air adventures.
“This two-seat roadster is able to corner country lanes with ease and plenty of poise, adding a touch of nonchalance to the driving experience.”
