Considering Audi Q2 models? If you’ve been doing your research, you’ll know it’s not as simple as just picking a car and driving away – there are different engines and trim levels to pick from.
Audi allows you to really ramp up the luxury feel of your Q2 by offering some top-spec trim levels that add extra features and flashier styling, but there are also entry-level models that are still kitted out at a lower cost.
We’re walking you through the range of Audi Q2 models in our guide below, so you can pick the right option for you.
Full Audi Q2 model range explained
There are Audi Q2 models to tick plenty of boxes – whether you want something really flashy or more family-focused.
One of the main things to consider for your model are the trim levels.
Not all trims are available across each release of the Q2 and there are some changes across what each trim level offers, as things change over the years.
Make sure you look at the features on the specific model you’re considering so you don’t end up disappointed.
For example, 2025 models now get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as standard instead of the optional extra it was previously.
Audi Q2 SE
The Audi Q2 SE is the entry-level trim that was available from the very first release of the car, and still packs plenty of features as standard.
There are 16-inch alloy wheels and a contrasting colour bumper design that adds aspects of Manhattan grey.
You also get a seven-inch colour infotainment screen and Audi Pre-sense Front Pedestrian recognition that’ll warn you of any collisions it might detect.
Driving is smooth and sleek with dynamic suspension, progressive steering, and an automatic stop-start system.
Audi Q2 Technik
The Audi Q2 Technik is a slightly newer entry-level option that was introduced to replace SE – though it was dropped for 2025 models.
This one originally came with a seven-inch infotainment screen like the SE, though later models were upgraded to an 8.3-inch screen.
You’ll also get cruise control and rear -parking sensors, though your alloys will still be 16-inches like the SE model.
Audi Q2 Sport
The Audi Q2 Sport builds on the original SE trim, with some slight upgrades.
You’ll now get 17-inch alloy wheels, matching body-coloured bumpers, and front sports seats. If the name wasn’t obvious, this Q2 is the one for a sportier look.
The Sport also gets some extra tech, such as Audi Drive Select that allows you to cycle through different driving modes.
Audi Q2 S line
If the Sport wasn’t quite enough for you, the Audi Q2 S line is even flashier.
There are now even larger 18-inch wheels, stiffer sports suspension, and front sports seats with an ‘S’ embossed logo.
You’ll also have a lighting pack in this one, adding LED lighting to the front roof, rear, vanity mirror, luggage compartment, and front footwells.
There are even illuminated sill trims with the ‘S’ logo, plus stainless-steel pedals and S Line Pulse cloth and leather upholstery.
Audi Q2 Black Edition
The Audi Q2 Black Edition looks a lot like the SQ2, with a menacing all-black design that looks great on the 19-inch alloys.
This is one of the top trims of the range, so you get everything from the models that came before it.
It’s impressive how far the black colouring stretches – this covers the alloys, privacy glass, steering wheel, full styling package, exterior and interior.
There’s also a large 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit and 8.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Audi Q2 Edition #1
The Audi Q2 Edition #1 was available for the car’s first year on sale and builds on the SE, but makes it more aggressive.
The alloys get scaled up to 19-inches with a gloss black finish, and the majority of the exterior resembles the S line. Though, here you get a Quantum grey colour option that isn’t available on any other Q2.
You’ll get all the tech from the lower trim models, but there’s an addition of Fine Nappa leather interior and ambient spot lighting in the front doors.
Audi Q2 petrol & diesel
Just like with the trim levels, there’s a broad range of engines on offer across the Audi Q2 range.
Again, things have changed across the years and you’ll need to look at individual models to see what specific engines are available if you’re choosing a used Q2.
Audi Q2 petrol
Models before 2020:
1.0 TFSI - 116hp
1.4 TFSI COD - 150hp
2.0 TFSI - 190hp
Models after 2020:
1.0 30 TFSI - 116hp
1.5 35 TFSI - 150hp
2.0 40 TFSI -190hp
There’s also the Audi SQ2 which uses the 40 TFSI engine but offers 300hp, so ideal if you like the Q2 but want a performance model.
Audi Q2 diesel
The Audi Q2 diesel models are now discontinued, so you can now only find these on the used market.
They’re efficient choices and smooth runners, so it’s worth sourcing one if you’re a diesel fan.
Models before 2020:
1.6 TDI - 116hp
2.0 TDI – 150hp
Models after 2020:
1.6 30 TDI - 116hp
What is the best Audi Q2 model?
It’s hard to choose the best Audi Q2 model without knowing what it is you’re after.
For the best all-rounder that’s ideal for daily use, we like the 1.5-litre 35 TFSI. It can get from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds and is efficient with a 53.3mpg claimed statistic.
For a luxury option, choose a Q2 S Line model with the 40 TFSI engine. It can achieve up to 190hp and looks really premium. It’s an ideal last step before switching to the SQ2.
If you want to stick to a budget, you really can’t go wrong with Sport or Technik trim, and the smaller 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre engines are reliable and chirpy. Even these entry-level models feel every inch the luxury Audi.
The Audi Q2 model range is packed with different trims and engines, and they’ve really varied over the years.
Not all engines are available across all trim levels, as this depends on the age and generation of the car.
