If you’re in the market for an electric car, you’ve probably stumbled across a Volvo or two.
This is because this Swedish brand is known for making some of the finest automobiles in the industry, and its EVs are just as good – if not better.
While its sister brand Polestar has just a couple of models on offer, Volvo has several fully electric models as well as some highly fuel-efficient hybrid cars that are worth mentioning.
But which are the best used electric Volvos?
Volvo C40

The Volvo C40 is essentially an all-electric version of the already popular XC40 Recharge SUV, and is perhaps one of the best-looking electric family cars you can buy.
There are two different versions on offer: a single motor and a dual motor with AWD variant. The RWD car produces 238hp and gets a 70kWh battery giving it up to 297 miles of range.
However, the dual-motor version has 78kWh that develops 408hp and ups the range to 342 miles.
The interior is worth mentioning. Like with all Volvo products, there’s a distinct focus on minimalism and functionality with its interiors, and the C40 is no exception.
There’s a central portrait display on the dashboard and plenty of buttons throughout – something Volvo keeps in its cars for those wearing gloves in colder Scandinavian climates.
Volvo XC60 Recharge PHEV

Volvo’s XC60 model is one of the most popular in its SUV range because it’s mid-sized yet still large enough for families to benefit from.
Thanks to its onboard plug-in hybrid system, the XC60 has the capability of being cheap to run thanks to a fuel-efficient petrol engine and the fact it can travel up to 32 miles on a single charge.
It’s also packed with the latest and greatest features from Volvo, from its large nine-inch infotainment display, great sound system and comfortable seats.
Volvo S90 Recharge PHEV

Taking it a step back is the S90 PHEV, a large luxurious saloon that’s great if you drive long distances for work or just want something comfortable to get around in.
There are varying specs, but the one to look out for is the T8, which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor.
Together, these produce 303hp and 400Nm of torque, making it incredibly quick. It can also cover a maximum of 36 miles on electric power alone – ideal for most commutes.
Inside, the S90 is one of the most luxurious cars you’ll find, rivalling the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series.
From its plush seats to its high levels of infotainment and safety tech, you certainly won’t get bored on a longer motorway trip.
Volvo V60 Recharge PHEV

While it may be smaller than the S90, the V60 Recharge plug-in hybrid packs a serious punch when it comes to boot space, offering 519 litres.
But aside from making a great car for dogs, the V60 is also very economical.
Power in the desired T6 model comes from a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine mated to a hybrid unit that offers a claimed combined fuel economy of 353.1mpg and up to 54 miles of all-electric driving.
While the boot is cavernous, the cabin is just as spacious, with plenty of space for up to five people and all the latest tech found in other modern Volvo cars.
Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV

The largest petrol car Volvo currently makes is the XC90, but if you want to maximise your fuel economy then you should opt for the Recharge PHEV model, which gets you up to around 134mpg combined.
This is thanks to its twin-charged (turbocharged and supercharged) 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor, powered by an 11.8kWh battery that delivers 390hp.
Being a plug-in hybrid, it’ll cover nearly 31 miles on electricity alone, which is plenty for the average Brit’s daily commute.
Inside, it’s as luxurious as a Range Rover, and for many people, it’s all you’d need before stepping up to a Bentley or Rolls-Royce SUV.
Volvo EX30

One of Volvo’s most recent creations is the EX30 – a small electric SUV that goes head-to-head with the Jeep Avenger and Smart #1.
Being a fully electric car, the EX30 can travel up to 298 miles using its onboard 69kWh battery and electric motor setup.
With a starting price in the UK of just £33,795, it’s reasonable too, with more affordable options expected to be hitting the used car market soon.
Inside, it’s just as you’d expect from Volvo. It’s minimalist, has a large, portrait iPad-like infotainment screen, and there are lots of sustainable materials – a nice added touch.

The new kid on the block is the Volvo EX90, which is essentially an all-electric XC90 SUV with improved tech and comfort (if that’s even possible).
Volvo decided to make this car to compete with the continued success of the Mercedes EQS SUV, BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron, and we believe it’ll come to dominate quickly.
Inside, it’s almost identical to the new EX30 but boasts more leather and a much larger cabin to complement its massive 650-litre boot (when the third row of seats is folded away).
