How long is a Ford Fiesta? Fiesta dimensions explained
The Ford Fiesta is one of the most popular cars on UK roads – but what are its measurements?
It was a dark day when we heard that Ford plan to discontinue the Ford Fiesta, as it’s been one of the most popular and well-loved cars for many years. You’ll soon only be able to find Fiestas on the used market.
It’s a model worth hunting for as well, ticking many boxes. It’s fun on the roads while still being practical, running costs are more than palatable, and it can be packed with as much tech as you like.
The Fiesta is also surprisingly roomy, with a good-sized boot. Read more about the measurements of the Fiesta in our guide.
How wide is a Ford Fiesta?
There are a few Ford Fiesta models to pick from, and all have had various nips and tucks over the years.
The Ford Fiesta sits at 1,941mm wide with the mirrors extended, and 1,735mm with the mirrors folded.
This is the same across trim levels like the Trend/Titanium, ST-Line, Vignale, and ST model.
Height-wise, the Fiesta sits 1,476mm tall and is 4,040mm in length. The ST model is slightly different here, measuring 1,469mm tall and 4,068mm long.
For the most part, the Fiesta has stayed around the same dimensions for height, length and width over the years.
Small changes have been made to accommodate for styling, but each one is of classic hatchback size.
For absolute accuracy on all these measurements, it’s a good idea to look at the specifics of the model you have your eye on.
These will be listed in the ‘vehicle specs’ section on our site when viewing models.
How big is the Ford Fiesta boot?
Boot size in Fiesta models has also remained pretty much the same over the years, with the ST models getting a 311-litre space and the Fiesta three-door getting 292 litres.
This space can be extended by dropping the back row of seats. In the classic Fiesta, this increases the space to 1,093 litres and you’ll get the same in the ST model.
There has been some slight variation over the years here as well, with some models offering slightly more or less bootspace.
You can check the individual boot size in our used Ford Fiesta models by looking at the ‘vehicle specs’ section on site when you’re viewing a car.
Ford Fiesta interior dimensions
Again, you’ll find some minor variation on the size of Fiesta models depending on the generation you choose. Exact measurements can be found on our site, but you can expect models to be close to these figures:
Ford Fiesta three-door (Trend/Titanium model)
Front headroom: 992mm
Maximum front legroom: 1,125mm
Rear headroom: 955mm
Rear legroom: 835mm
Ford Fiesta exterior dimensions
Ford Fiesta three-door (Trend/Titanium model)
Overall length: 4,040mm
Wheelbase: 2,493mm
Can the Ford Fiesta tow?
The Ford Fiesta isn’t a model that we’d recommend for towing large loads regularly, but you can do so for up to 1,000kg depending on the model.
If towing a caravan or other large load is a big selling point for you, the Ford Fiesta might not be the best pick.
For another Ford model that’s ideal for towing, the Ford Kuga, Puma or Focus could be a better choice.
Before going ahead with towing in any car, make sure you refer to your vehicle handbook or the manufacturer to ensure towing is supported.
Fiesta fuel tank capacity
The fuel tank capacity in the Ford Fiesta is 42 litres for both petrol and diesel models.
This is the same in trims like the Vignale, ST-Line, Trend and Titanium, plus the Fiesta ST model.
What is the Ford Fiesta's turning circle?
The turning circle in the Ford Fiesta is 10.05 kerb-to-kerb, so it’s not a hard one to manoeuvre around. You’ll be able to shift yourself in tight spots with no problems, so it’s ideal for city driving.
How to tell if this model is for you
The perfect thing about the Ford Fiesta is that it’s likely always going to be a great pick – there are few cars that can please a crowd quite like it.
Low running costs mean that it’s a great option for first-time drivers finding their feet on the road, or as an economical daily runner for anyone who needs it. You can expect up to 56.5mpg with mild hybrid tech.
It also makes for a brilliant family car, especially when you factor in the roomy boot.
You’ll easily be able to fit a pushchair or other essentials, and the cabin includes ISOFIX car seat points and enough space to be comfortable even in the back seats.
While the Ford Fiesta is coming to the end of its run on the brand-new market, that does mean you can grab a deal on a used model.
Prices on our site usually start at around £7,550 for a 2016 Zetec Blue model and make it a great option on a budget, but these costs will differ depending on the Fiestas we have in stock.
