One of the best parts of a new car is choosing what colour you fancy – and there are plenty of Mercedes A-Class colours to pick from.

The A-Class is a popular hatchback that rivals models like the Audi A1 and BMW 1 Series, offering luxe styling on a more compact car.

The line-up of Mercedes A-Class colours includes bright whites, pearly silvers, shadowy blacks and some more colourful shades, so you’re bound to find the perfect match.

A-Class AMG-Line colours

Mercedes AMG-Line is a sporty trim option that upgrades the exterior and interior of the car to resemble the brand’s flashy AMG models, without the chunkier price tag.

They don’t perform like AMG models but the more aggressive styling can make them even more desirable than standard models.

The A-Class AMG-Line colours that are currently offered on the Mercedes website are:

Standard colours:

  • Night Black

  • Polar White

Premium colours:

  • Spectral Blue metallic

  • High-tech Silver

The Mercedes A-Class Sport trim is a step up from the entry-level SE model, adding features like larger alloys and a carbon fibre interior trim.

You can’t currently by a brand-new A-Class Sport model, with the Sport Edition replacing both it and the SE, but there are plenty of used examples.

If you’re looking for a used A-Class Sport model, you might come across a few different shades.

Standard colours:

Limited edition Mercedes A-Class paint colours

The Magno Green AMG A45 S Limited Edition model was launched in early 2024 and gave us the greenest A-Class you could ever imagine.

Officially named the ‘Green Hell Magno’ paint, this matte shade is accompanied by striking yellow wheels and decals, and a yellow-trimmed interior.

There are some other shades in the Mercedes A-Class line-up that are trickier to come by, including the Sun Yellow colour.

Mercedes A-Class paint code

Although some Mercedes paint colours can look similar, each one is individually created to show off the body lines of the A-Class in different ways.

Even the different black and grey tones are unique. So, just make sure you know what paint colour you're getting. You don't want to be expecting Cosmos Black metallic only to find out you have standard Night Black

The best way to make sure you’re getting the right colour is to check the paint codes, which are unique to each manufacturer shade.

You’ll also need the paint code if you ever need paintwork or touch-up paint for your A-Class.

Where is the paint code on the Mercedes A-Class?

The Mercedes A-Class paint code can usually be found on the inside edge of the driver’s door opening. It’s typically three or four digits long and printed onto a black plate.

For example, the Mercedes A-Class Polar White paint code is 149. You can use this code to find the perfect matching paint for your car.

Taking care of the paintwork on your A-Class

Looking after the paintwork on your Mercedes A-Class is worth the time and effort. It’s the best way to keep it looking fresh and keep the resale value strong.

The best thing you can do for your A-Class's paint job is a regular clean. Dirt and debris can cause rust and damage to the paint, so keep your car shiny and fresh as much as possible.

Adding products like quality wax or ceramic spray to give your A-Class some extra protection. You can be apply these at home or bring in the professionals – these products can definitely make a difference to your maintenance routine.

If you’re buying a used Mercedes A-Class from cinch, we offer our cinchShield package with AutoGlym LifeShine protection. It’s a three-part system that shields your car from dirt, stains and other harsh contaminants.

Don’t worry if you do end up with a scratch or scuff on your A-Class, it’s not the end of the world.

Small imperfections can often be buffed out and the professionals can help with large scrapes or dents.

You can also use your paint code to get a touch-up kit, which are ideal for small stone chips or light scuffs.

It’s quite a fiddly job, so take your time – you can apply more touch-up paint but it’s very tricky to remove once it’s on.

Which colour Mercedes A-Class should I buy?

Don’t forget, it’s your A-Class, so go for the colour that you love the most.

It’s worth keeping in mind that some car colours have better resale value - if avoiding depreciation is important to you.

White cars are often known to offer better resale value, and rare or limited-edition shades are usually in high demand.

You might also want to consider some lifestyle factors. If you regularly drive down muddy roads, is a black A-Class the right fit or do you want to camouflage grime between washes?
