Cheapest SUVs UK

While SUVs have been a popular option for some time now, many of the on-trend models can be slightly pricey.

Options like the Range Rover Evoque, BMW X3 and Audi Q5 definitely have that premium appeal, but there are SUVs that are much more budget-friendly and just as impressive.

Take a look at some of our top picks for an affordable SUV with plenty to offer.

Renault Kadjar

For something laidback, minimalist and ideal for family life, the Renault Kadjar is an ideal choice.

Even entry-level models are well-equipped, and you can get some serious bargains on the used market.

There’s a 472-litre boot at the rear, and the interior itself has a premium feel that’s hardwearing and features a seven-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Choose the S-Edition and GT Line models to get a Bose audio system as well, including seven speakers and an extra subwoofer packed into the boot.

It’s pretty frugal on the fuel, offering up to 57.7mpg from the Blue dCi 115 diesel engine or up to 44.1mpg from the powerful TCe petrol.

You can usually find a used Renault Kadjar for prices upwards of £10,600 on our site, but this figure can change depending on what we have in stock.

Skoda Karoq

A red Skoda Karoq

The Skoda Karoq sits between the Kamiq and the Kodiaq, so acts as the perfect family SUV if you want something comfortable, practical and available in a fair few trims.

In 2022, the Karoq received a facelift that means older models might look slightly different.

If you opt for a 2022 model or newer, your Karoq will have an extended spoiler, chunkier grille and fresh bumpers.

On the road, the Karoq is comfortable to drive and feels sharp despite its large size.

There are a few options for engines, including 2.0-litre TSI and TDI options that are the sportiest of the bunch, with the TDI capable of 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds.

A used Skoda Karoq can cost upwards of £14,450 for a 2019 SE model, but these prices will change depending on the exact model and specification.

Suzuki Ignis

For a more unique design, the Suzuki Ignis is a model that stands out from other SUVs on the market and favours a rugged look in some jazzy colourways.

It’s a small SUV that’s ideal for the solo motorist who enjoys that outdoorsy style, offering a 267-litre boot and five seats.

If you choose the four-wheel-drive Ignis, the boot space does decrease to 204 litres.

The SZ3 trim is the entry-level model and offers tech like Bluetooth connectivity, while the flashier SZ-T and SZ5 models feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a seven-inch touchscreen.

When it comes to engine options, there’s a single 1.2-litre petrol with mild hybrid tech, allowing you to achieve up to 58mpg.

Used prices do differ depending on the model, but you can get a 2017 1.2 Dualjet model for around £9,000.

Nissan Qashqai

If you’ve been looking for SUVs, you’ll likely have already come across the popular Nissan Qashqai.

It’s earned its loyal fan club by being a budget-friendly-friendly SUV option that’s an ideal family car.

You can choose from a petrol or hybrid model, with petrol being on the lower end of the budget, and there’s also a choice of four-wheel- and two-wheel-drive models.

In the E-Power model, you can achieve up to 53.3mpg. Petrol engines aren’t too far behind, with the 1.3-litre model capable of up to 44.5mpg with mild-hybrid tech.

There are plenty of features on offer as well, even in the entry-level trims. A base-level Qashqai Visia features LED headlights and daytime running lights, lots of safety tech, and a digital instrument display.

Prices for a used Qashqai will differ depending on the model you choose and what we have in stock, but a 2017 Acenta model can cost around £12,650 on our site.

Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is another popular option for an SUV that won’t break the bank, and it’s a great value-for-money option that features plenty of tech.

There's a range of engines to choose from, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid options for boosting your fuel efficiency.

You can expect to cover up to 43 miles using purely electric power in the PHEV model, but these are the more expensive choice.

The Sportage claimed a full five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2022, with 87% for adult occupants and 86% for children. This makes it a secure and reliable SUV for daily use.

In 2019, the Juke received a five-star Euro NCAP rating, with impressive 94% adult occupant ratings and 85% for children.

Safety tech includes Nissan’s Driver Assist Technologies in the latest models, including intelligent cruise control, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition.

It’s worth noting that hybrid models and the options with extra tech will come in at a higher price point.

You can find a used 2016 Nissan Juke Visia model for prices starting at around £8,150 on our site, but these prices will change depending on the exact model you choose and its specification.

You’ll have a choice of trim options, including the priciest GT Sport that features a 360-degree camera and powered sunroof.

The entry-level SE-L models are more affordable and still feature touches such as LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, and sat-nav.

You can usually find a used 2018 Mazda CX-5 for around £16,200 on our site, but prices will differ depending on stock and specifications.
