Toyota Corolla estate boot space
The Toyota Corolla is a firm favourite of many UK drivers and is applauded for its safety and striking looks. But how is the estate’s boot space?
There’s a reason why Toyota is one of the world’s most successful car manufacturers, and if you invest in an estate car, you’ll see for yourself exactly why.
It’s great value for money and comes with all the clever features that make Toyota so popular.
With blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, you can chauffeur your loved ones in confidence.
The Corolla estate is actually known as the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports, acknowledging the great touring cars of days gone by, which were big, roomy, very comfortable and built for long distances.
It replaced the Auris in the UK, which – yes, you guessed it – replaced the original Corolla. When it decided to create a new car, Toyota wanted to name it in line with the company’s great heritage, so it decided to resurrect the Corolla name, which dates back to when the first car was introduced into UK markets – 1966.
If you can manage with a bit less room, the new Corolla hatchback is a perfectly fine choice. It’s the same car underneath the skin, after all.
Oh, and it’s also available with two different hybrid engines.
So, you know you can expect good fuel economy and safety from this estate car – but what about the boot space?
What are the Toyota Corolla estate boot dimensions?
Estate cars are perfectly suited to drivers who appreciate ample room on their travels.
Unsurprisingly, the Toyota Corolla estate lives up to these expectations.
The boot of the Toyota Corolla estate offers 598 litres with the seats up and 1,606 litres with the seats folded.
This isn’t too different from the Volkswagen Golf estate, which offers 611 litres with the seats up and 1,625 litres with the seats down.
How long and wide is a Toyota Corolla estate?
The Corolla estate is the same height and width as its hatchback friend – 1,460mm and 1,790mm respectively – but the two differ in length.
The hatch is 4,370mm long, while the Touring Sports estate is 4,650mm.

How much luggage can you fit in a Toyota Corolla estate?
While the Corolla estate boot space is smaller than the Škoda Octavia (640 litres), it still surpasses that of the Ford Focus (575 litres) and Volvo V60 estate (529 litres).
Want maximum boot space? Start your search with the Toyota Corolla estate.
If you need all the seats in use, 598 litres can still be plenty. This is roughly big enough to fit:
• 2–3 large suitcases
• 4–5 medium suitcases
• 6–8 small suitcases
This makes it perfect for family holidays that require lots of luggage.
One big plus is that the load area is flat, and the loading lip is also nice and low.
If your plans are a little more complex and you need more space, just fold the rear seats down and you boost the space to 1,606 litres. That’s enough for:
• 3–4 strollers
• 3–4 sets of golf clubs
• 3–4 sets of camping gear
Of course, how much you fit in the boot will depend on exactly what you need to pack – and how smart you are with the placements.
If you’re packing your boot for a festival, for example, try using packing cubes to keep the items organised. You could also utilise the space under the boot floor for smaller items.
How many seats are in a Toyota Corolla estate?
The Toyota Corolla has five seats.
For maximum comfort, it’s recommended you don’t sit an adult in the middle rear seat where they might be slightly cramped.
If there are three small children at the back, happy days.
If you prefer something bigger, you might be better suited to the Volkswagen Passat estate or Ford Mondeo estate.
