Creepy Cars: the best Halloween-inspired vehicles revealed

If you’re a fan of horror films or enjoy a good spook, a creepy car might be right up your street.

There are plenty of vehicles that have scary associations, whether it be their unsettling name or their role in an iconic horror film.

But which are the most unsettling cars to grace our screens and roads?

Plymouth Fury ‘58

You can’t get spookier than a car that goes on a killing spree, and that’s exactly what happened in the film adaptation of ‘Christine’ by Stephen King, in which a 1958 Plymouth Fury lives up to its name and has unsettling ambitions.

Sam Sheehan, our motoring editor here at cinch, said: “The 1958 Plymouth Fury’s silhouette doesn’t necessarily scream danger.

“But cast in ‘Christine’ as an evil car with a mind of its own, it’s easy to see how it might accelerate your heartbeat if you ever spotted one in town.

“The movie’s red, murderous Fury goes on a killing spree after being lovingly restored by a nerdy high-schooler, causing havoc and total devastation.”

Lamborghini Diablo

If you think the name ‘Diablo’ sounds familiar, that’s likely because it is – It means ‘Devil’ in Spanish.

Even though the Lambo Diablo is named after a 19th-century fighting bull, we can’t help but feel uneasy when we consider the satanic association.

Having said that, the Diablo does have a devilish look about it... The sharp angles and edges look particularly menacing in red.

Chevrolet Monte Carlo ‘77

How has such an innocent-looking car made this list? Well, the Chevy Monte Carlo has made its own appearance in a cult favourite horror film.

In the original ‘Halloween’ movie, a bright-red Monte Carlo is the scene of a horrific crime when a masked stranger appears in the rear seat...

If you’re a fan of the franchise, a Monte Carlo is a fun nod to the films that might only be noticed by other die-hard horror fans.

Dodge Challenger SRT Demon

If there’s something truly demonic about the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, it’ll be its ability to hit 0-62mph in just 1.7 seconds.

It’s a menacing muscle car that’s as thrilling to drive as it sounds.

In fact, the SRT Demon is known for breaking the world record for the longest wheelie from a standing start. It’s scary by name, nature, and abilities.

Lincoln Continental Mark III ‘71

Another screen star with a spooky reputation is the Lincoln Continental Mark III ‘71 - the protagonist in the aptly named 1977 film ‘The Car’.

In the film, the murderous motor commits several hit-and-runs in a small town in Utah. The self-driving car is then pursued by the local sheriff, who’s dedicated to stopping the rampage.

This model has been customised to make it look more wicked. The roof was lowered by three inches, and its distinctive rumble actually spells out the letter ‘X’ in Morse code.

Rolls-Royce Phantom

I’m not sure we even need to explain this one – what can be spookier than a car called the ‘Phantom’?

The mysterious Rolls-Royce even features a ghostly figure on top of the grille, known as the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’.

This model isn’t the only Rolls-Royce to feature an unearthly name. The British carmaker has several ethereal motors in its collection, including the Ghost, Wraith and Spectre.

’54 Aston Martin DB

You might feel the epitome of style and class while cruising around in a ’54 Aston Martin DB, but it might not be as glamorous if you’re starring in ‘The Birds’.

In the Alfred Hitchcock film, the main character, Melanie, uses the Aston Martin DB to escape when attacked by a swarm of birds.

It’s an ominous scene and gives this suave car a spooky edge.
