Ford Focus ST boosted with new Edition
Hot selling fast Ford gets a sprinkling of extra pepper
We love the Focus ST at cinch (how could we not?), with its mix of good looks, practicality and, of course, exciting performance. It’s an all-round hatchback star that’s brilliant in all forms, as illustrated by the handful of petrol and diesel models currently available on cinch, with prices start from under £15,000. Apparently not content with providing the public with such a strong mechanical offering, though, Ford has introduced a new variant that turns up the heat with a vibrant colour scheme and technical upgrade.
In truth, it’s a small(ish) transformation, with the new Focus ST Edition gaining an Azura Blue paintwork and motorsport-inspired suspension provided by esteemed engineering firm KW. If you know, you know. Ford fan boys and girls may recognise the changes as being identical to those applied to the Fiesta ST Edition – 10 brownie points to you – and that’s a very good thing, because the higher-grade Fiesta might just be the best supermini-sized hot hatch on sale. Rest assured cinch intends to put that suggestion to the test.
As ever, Ford’s upgraded model comes with an ‘upgraded’ price - £35,785, which is about £2,500 more than a regular petrol ST. Oh, and that comparison is relevant because the Edition model is petrol only, meaning you get a very healthy 280hp from a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, one of the most characterful and entertaining motors in the hot hatch sector, we should add. Handily for the bargain hunter buyer, though, that exact same engine is fitted to earlier examples of the Focus ST on cinch, meaning you can jump on the fun Ford bandwagon for a fraction of the cost.
On that note, isn’t Tangerine Scream a lovely colour? Winkface.
