Ioniq 6 range revealed: Hyundai promises Tesla-topping range with electric saloon
This electric saloon will rival the likes of the Polestar 2 and Tesla’s Model 3 when it arrives to the market
Tesla carries the biggest name in the electric world, but Hyundai is looking to knock Elon Musk’s powerhouse off its perch with the new Ioniq 6.
The new all-electric saloon, which will be on sale in the UK later this year, has a whopping claimed range of 379 miles.
This is just five miles more than the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, so it’s hardly blowing the competition out of the water – but it’s a small yet significant win for Hyundai.
The Ioniq 6 was unveiled a few months ago but the technical specs have finally arrived – it will be available with a 58kWh battery, which is two-wheel drive, or a 77.4kWh battery with four-wheel drive.
The top-of-the-range model, which is AWD, can do 0-62mph in an impressive 5.1 seconds – delivering 366hp and 605Nm of torque. It’s safe to say the Ioniq 6 packs a punch.
Prices are yet to land for this slick saloon, but we know that with a super-fast 350kW charger, you can charge it from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.
The Ioniq 6’s interior is similar to the impressive Ioniq 5, with two 12-inch screens – one working as a digital dashboard and the other as a touchscreen infotainment system. It'll feel just as premium and luxurious as it looks!
If those two screens weren’t enough, there’s also two more sitting at either end of the dashboard that work as wing mirrors. Hyundai has replaced traditional wing mirrors with subtle cameras on the sides of the car, which not only looks cool but also makes the car more streamlined and therefore more efficient. It’s a win-win!
