Start nowThe Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron is a coupé-SUV based on the Audi Q4 e-tron. Both are mechanically identical and feel the same, apart from the sloping rear roofline.
Popular Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron trims
The usual array of Audi trim levels is available for the Q4 Sportback e-tron, but this premium model excludes some lower-end options.
> Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron Sport - this mid-spec model with a powered boot lid and a reversing camera is the cheapest option
> Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron S line - sporty-looking upgrades, including bigger alloys, aggressive styling and sports seats
> Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron Black Edition - black styling details and unique alloy designs
Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron history
Audi launched the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron in 2021 within a few months of its cousins, the mechanically similar Volkswagen ID.5 and Skoda Enyaq Coupé.
> Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron (2021) - mechanically similar but more premium than its VW and Skoda cousins
> Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron battery upgrades (2023) - faster charging and more powerful motors
Audi regularly updates its trim level offerings, but as a guide, a facelifted Sport model with bigger batteries comes with plenty of tech, including a large 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an even bigger 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Driver aids include bright LED headlights, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
Other standard-fit luxuries like a powered boot lid, three-zone climate control and keyless start add to the premium feel.
A used Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron is considered reliable thanks to Audi’s strong engineering and build quality. Owners praise its performance, advanced technology and dependability.
Electric cars have fewer moving parts than combustion models, so there’s less to go wrong. The Q4 Sportback e-tron also shares parts with other Volkswagen Group models and gets regular software updates to make sure that it remains up-to-date.
It might be a pricey electric SUV to buy and insure, but Audi cars often cost more for their desirability and excellent fit and finish.
Thankfully, its batteries can be charged for as little as £3.80-£5.80 at an off-peak rate (7p/kWh), which can seriously cut the cost of motoring.
A used Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron for sale is a great pick for those who want a luxurious, sporty coupé-SUV first and foremost.
The fact that it’s electric, which means instant throttle response and affordable running costs, adds to the appeal.
Other electric coupé options include the Volkswagen ID.5, Skoda Enyaq Coupé, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model Y, Genesis GV60 or Kia EV6.
Both cars are mechanically identical – the key difference is the sloping rear roofline, which eats into headspace somewhat, but marginally improves aerodynamics, not to mention style.
Depending on the motor configuration, the bigger 77kWh battery has a claimed range of up to 339 miles. The smaller 52kWh battery has a reduced range of 208 miles.
With a heat pump being optional, not all used Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron cars are as efficient as each other.
Take around 50 miles off the claimed range and you should get a good idea of how far you’ll be able to go on a single charge in an e-tron.
Although some Q4 e-trons support 11kW charging, most homes are limited to 7kW. Depending on the battery size, it would take around 8-12 hours to fully charge an Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron.
The numbers refer to the motor and battery configuration. Both 40 and 45 models have a 77kWh battery, but they have 204hp and 286hp, respectively.
There are also 50 and 55 variants with 299hp and 340hp, as well as a 170hp model with a smaller 52kWh battery, badged 35.
