What is the Audi TTS?

An Audi TTS is an even faster version of this sporty coupé, which comes with a powerful 2.0-litre petrol engine.

It’s a member of the S family, much like an S3 and an SQ5, which means it sits between the regular TT model and the ludicrously quick TT RS, which has a less efficient 2.5-litre engine.

Despite its sporty nature, an Audi TTS is still a reasonably practical car, and in coupé form, it even has a pair of rear seats, though they’re best kept for younger children.

What are the Audi TTS specs?

The Audi TTS comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged TFSI petrol engine, with an output of 320hp and 400Nm of torque.

It’s the same petrol engine as you’ll find in the Volkswagen Golf R, and because Audi belongs to the Volkswagen Group, you’ll see it being used in several other models, too, including some Cupra cars.

Because it’s smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic, the Audi TTS is faster than those cars, boasting a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds.

Used Audi TTS features and equipment

While the TTS may be considered a slightly separate vehicle from the regular TT, it comes with much of the same kit as you’d get in a top-of-the-range Audi TT.

Depending on the model year, expect features like an upgraded Bang & Olufsen sound system, cruise control, parking sensors and a reversing camera.

In place of a conventional infotainment system, all versions of the third-generation Audi TT, including any TTS for sale, come with a customisable digital instrument cluster that displays other elements such as mapping.

Where the TTS sits in the Audi range

The Audi TTS is the most powerful version of the Audi TT you can get with a regular 2.0-litre petrol engine, sitting above the standard range, which includes Sport and S line models.

There’s also a more expensive TT RS, but that comes with a quirky 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, which sounds great and puts out 400hp.

There have been a couple of variants to the TTS, including aggressive-looking Black Edition and premium Vorsprung cars. In the TTS’s final year of sale, a Final Edition model was also launched.
