What is the BMW 3 Series M Sport?
High-performance M cars are a BMW speciality, and there are few as appealing and capable as the M3, which is based on the regular 3 Series.
M Sport models have styling that’s inspired by these sports cars, so you’ll have the look of a performance model without the high cost.
What’s more, you can take your pick from a range of efficient petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid engine options.
What are the BMW 3 Series M Sport specs?
The most popular models are the 2.0-litre variants, because they offer a good blend of efficiency and power. The 184hp 320i and the 190hp 320d are firm favourites.
Lesser-powered 156hp 318i and 150hp 318d models are slightly more efficient, but if mpg is important to you, then the 2.0-litre 330e plug-in hybrid might be more appropriate.
If you like the sound of more power, then 387hp M340i and 340hp M340d models use larger 3.0-litre engines. Previously, there were 330d and 335d models to pick from, which were also available in M Sport trims.

M Sport has been a staple of the 3 Series lineup since around 2006, so there are a few generations of BMW 3 Series M Sport to pick from.
Newer models come as standard with cruise control, all-round parking sensors, three-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Watch out for optional extras, which might include a powered boot lid, a heated steering wheel, and even the option to unlock your car from a compatible smartphone.
Where the 3 Series M Sport sits in the BMW range
M Sport is largely regarded as the highest trim level available for BMW models, before you go into performance models which don’t come under any trim level.
