There’s only one version of the Citroen C5 X, and it’s marketed as a hatchback because of its boot lid, but it’s so much more than that.

Although the C5 X is a new car, it’s seen as an indirect replacement for the previous C5 model, which was discontinued in 2018.

What features does a used Citroen C5 X have?

When it first went on sale, Sense Plus was the cheapest option, but it still has LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The trim was renamed ‘You!’ but it still has the same equipment.

All cars use Citroen’s ‘Advanced Comfort’ suspension, which is said to offer a ‘magic carpet-like ride’. Plug-in hybrid models have an upgraded ‘Active’ version of this suspension that adapts to the road. The whole range also gets 15mm of foam padding on the seats to add to the sumptuous feeling.

Higher-spec cars add luxuries like a bigger 12-inch screen, a head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera and heated seats.

Is the Citroen C5 X reliable?

There’s not much data on the C5 X’s reliability because it’s still pretty new. Thankfully, many of its mechanical parts are shared with other Citroen, Peugeot, DS and Vauxhall models, so many parts of the car are already tried and tested and should be dependable.

The 130hp 1.2-litre petrol is punchy enough for most and should be able to return 40-50mpg.

If you need a bit more power, the 225hp plug-in hybrid still averages around 60mpg in a mixture of real-world driving, and it should be even better if you mostly do short journeys.
