What is the Ford B-Max Zetec?

The Ford B-Max is an interesting choice, because it has the space and practicality of a much larger car, but it’s actually very compact and is easy to manoeuvre around town.

A key selling point is the way the front doors open normally, but the rear doors slide, which makes getting child seats in and out easy.

Zetec may be the entry-level option, but it comes with all the essentials to take the stress out of family motoring, plus it benefits from that quality Ford manufacturing.

What are the Ford B-Max Zetec specs?

Despite being the cheapest B-Max option, engine choice is actually pretty good, but most buyers will end up going for the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. It’s an excellent all-rounder, and comes with either 100hp or 125hp.

There are also two non-turbocharged petrol engines – a 90hp 1.4-litre unit and a 105hp 1.6-litre unit with an automatic gearbox.

Diesel power comes in the form of the 1.5-litre TDCI engine, with 75hp or 95hp, but the reality is that the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol is just as efficient in most conditions.

Don’t be put off by this being an entry-level option, because you still get alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, a tyre pressure monitoring system and air-conditioning.

The infotainment system is a previous version of Ford’s SYNC system, so while it may not be a slick touchscreen, you still get Bluetooth connectivity and, on Zetec Navigator models, a built-in sat-nav.

We also really like the standard-fit heated windscreen, which makes de-icing in those winter months less of a chore.

Where the B-Max Zetec sits in the Ford range

The Ford B-Max range is very simple, because apart from the Zetec model, you can only pick Titanium and Titanium X cars.

As part of a mid-life update, they became known as Navigator models for their built-in sat-nav, so if this is important to you, look for one of these, like the Zetec Navigator.
