It’s very affordable and incredibly easy to drive, but most importantly, it’s highly practical. The Galaxy’s been on the scene since 1995, and every generation has continued to improve on the family-friendly formula.
It’s highly accessible, which means you can carry multiple generations around, from grandparent to grandchild.

You also get a choice of diesel engines and manual or automatic gearboxes. It’s the largest MPV in the Ford range too, so it’s the right choice if you need a lot of space.
Plus, it comes with that tried-and-tested Ford badge, so you know you’re getting a model you can rely on.
Popular Ford Galaxy trims
The Galaxy does without many of the lower-end trim levels that you’d find in other cars, which means every version comes with plenty of car tech. Newer models are only available in the single Titanium trim.
> Ford Galaxy Titanium - High-spec model with keyless entry, all-round parking sensors and heated front seats
> Ford Galaxy Titanium X - Top-spec version with electric driver’s seat adjustment and self-parking system
Ford Galaxy history
There have been three versions of the Galaxy, but the second- and third-generation models look fairly similar. Ford announced it would stop building these seven-seater MPVs in 2022.
> Third-generation Ford Galaxy (2015) - Similar design to previous model with focus on refinement and quality
> Facelifted Ford Galaxy (2020) - Minor interior and exterior design tweaks
> Hybrid Ford Galaxy (2021) - Ford removed petrol and diesel options, only offering the same 2.5-litre hybrid as it sells in the Kuga
The Ford Galaxy is made entirely for family life, focused on solving issues related to transporting seven people on the daily.
Inside, you get seven seats split across three rows, with the middle and rear rows both sliding and reclining. This makes getting in and out very easy, and there’s more than enough space for three adults in both the middle and back rows.
With all seats in use, there’s enough boot space for a shop and an overnight bag or two, but when you fold down the rest of the seats then you’ve got more boot space than many vans. The rearmost pair of seats in high-spec models are electrically foldable.
The post-facelift interior is much more modern than previous generations, with more expensive materials and a new 'SYNC 3' infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen that’s intuitive to use.
As well as the built-in sat-nav, you also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, so you can use Waze or Google Maps if you prefer.
You can see the full range of features in each model by taking a look at our current used Ford Galaxy listings.
It’s good to know that the used Ford Galaxy uses the same reliable electronic and mechanical tech as the Focus, S-Max and Mondeo.
That means it’s been tried and tested by hundreds of thousands of people, with no major issues reported over the years.
Most Ford Galaxy cars for sale come with a powerful but frugal 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is the pick of the bunch for many drivers.
The hybrid could be more efficient around town, but there’s no option to charge it up to benefit from cheap electric-only miles.
