What types of used Genesis G70 cars are there?

The Genesis G70 is a longer-standing model in the Genesis car range, introduced in 2017 as an alternative to the BMW 3 Series and Audi A5. 

Being marketed as an entry-level luxury saloon, the G70 is among one of the more appealing cars that isn’t from a German manufacturer. This is thanks to its Hyundai-backed reliability which is some of the best in the industry. 

What it’s most popular for is its driving dynamics which are helped by a punchy turbocharged engine under the bonnet. 

Popular Genesis G70 trims 

Genesis has discontinued the G70 so it's no longer available brand-new, but used Genesis G70 models can be found in a number of trims. 

> Genesis G70 Sport – the current model that offers a sporty look and a wide range of kit as standard 

> Genesis G70 D – the diesel version with a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of up to 41.8mpg 

> Genesis G70 Luxury – clue's in the name but this is the swanky one with an interior set to match its more expensive G80 sibling 

Genesis G70 history 

Genesis launched the G70 in 2021 here in the UK, following its global launch in 2017. It proved that luxury saloons didn’t all have to be expensive or German, but sadly the model didn’t sell as well as planned and it was discontinued in 2024.

What features does the Genesis G70 have?

While you may expect to find some cheap plastics and rough finishes, you’d struggle to find many if any at all. In fact, the G70 is one of the more well-appointed interiors we’ve seen, taking inspiration from Hyundai but with a Mercedes-like twist. 

From new, many cars come with a lot of optional extras so when looking for a used one, make sure it has the added packs such as the digital instrument pack for a virtual cockpit, and the Innovation pack which adds a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a head-up display, blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree parking camera. 

Is the Genesis G70 reliable?

Sharing many components across the Hyundai Motor Cars group, a used Genesis G70 should be a very reliable and dependable car. 

When new, they all came with a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty which proved how much Genesis backed its product. 

How much does the Genesis G70 cost to run?

Realistically, a used G70 shouldn’t cost all that much to run provided it’s serviced regularly and is taken good care of. 

Genesis claims it should get around 35mpg for the petrol and around 40mpg for the diesel. This isn’t as good as many rivals, though. 

Who is the Genesis G70 suitable for?

A Genesis G70 for sale is a good car to recommend to businesspeople and families who want a sporty edge because of its turbocharged engine and aggressive design. 

It may not be the most practical saloon out there, but it certainly stands out from the usual crowd of BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A5 models.
