Start nowThe Jaguar E-PACE is a compact SUV that shares many of its parts with the equally stylish Range Rover Evoque. It’s considered a conventional crossover, but it does have a bit of coupé about it, similar to the BMW X4.
Popular Jaguar E-PACE trims
Trim levels are easy to understand with any E-PACE, because they follow a simple S, SE and HSE structure. There are some variants, including sporty-looking R-Dynamic and aggressive Black versions of the above, among some others.
> Jaguar E-PACE R-Dynamic S - half a step above entry-level, with LED headlights, heated seats and leather interior
> Jaguar E-PACE R-Dynamic SE - mid-spec car with powered bootlid, upgraded sound system and extra chrome details
> Jaguar E-PACE R-Dynamic HSE - high-spec model with keyless entry, premium leather upgrade and adaptive cruise control
Jaguar E-PACE history
Acknowledging the popularity of crossovers and SUVs, the E-PACE joined Jaguar’s range in 2017, one year after the company launched the bigger F-PACE.
> First-generation Jaguar E-PACE (2017) - familiar Jaguar design in an appealing crossover package with plenty of style and luxury
> Jaguar E-PACE engine update (2018) - affordable and economical P200 petrol engine joins the P250 and P300
> Jaguar E-PACE facelift (2020) - subtle styling tweaks with big focus on fuel economy, including new mild and plug-in hybrid options and a major infotainment system upgrade
There’s no such thing as a bad pick, because even the most basic early Jaguar E-PACE for sale comes with LED headlights and tail lights, cruise control and plenty of sporty tweaks like a drive mode selector and torque vectoring.
Inside, there’s dual-zone climate control and a touchscreen infotainment display. You also get a reversing camera and all-round parking sensors.
Facelifted models are the ones to go for, because they get a significantly improved 11.4-inch infotainment system which is more responsive and offers better smartphone connectivity.
Jaguar, as well as sister company Land Rover, has had its fair share of reliability concerns over the years, however the E-PACE is a relatively new car built as part of a joint venture with a Chinese firm.
Some owners report problems relating to the engines and transmissions, but in reality, these aren’t so common. The biggest concern for earlier models is the disappointing infotainment system, but if you don’t need the latest and greatest, it’s still an excellent radio with impressive speakers.
Although you can get some front-wheel-drive models, most are 4x4s, which slightly hinders fuel economy, particularly among the petrol models.
Diesels should be able to achieve more than 40mpg on a long run, and the plug-in hybrid model can do around 20-30 miles between charges on cheap electricity.
A used Jaguar E-PACE for sale is an excellent choice for town and city dwellers who are after a stylish, stand-out crossover that can live up to the odd countryside adventure.
It faces stiff competition from the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque, which share many mechanical parts, but you may also wish to consider other stylish cars like the Volvo XC40.
The Jaguar E-PACE is a stylish crossover that offers genuine driving enjoyment, and it’s worth considering for anyone who wants a less obvious choice of SUV and more exclusivity.
Jaguar will be killing off all of its cars in coming years to focus on more expensive and more luxurious electric models.
Although the E-PACE might cost a little more to run than your typical family hatchback, it’s unlikely to cost any more than other SUVs with four-wheel drive.
Yes, the E-PACE is considered a luxury model, which means it tends to retain its value better than more budget-friendly options. A used Jaguar E-PACE could be on the pricey side to buy, but you’d hope that you could sell it for a decent amount when it comes to upgrading in a few years.
When it first went on sale, the cheapest E-PACE was less than £30,000, but a brand new model in 2024 will set you back over £43,000.
