Start nowThe Jeep Renegade launched in 2014 as Jeep’s smallest model, and created its own niche in the market as an off-road-capable small SUV that offered a surprising amount of practicality.
The Renegade is based on the same platform as the Fiat 500X, which can be traced back to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. This shows the Renegade features tried-and-tested components throughout.
Some of its main rivals are the Mini Countryman, Audi Q2, Toyota C-HR and even its sister car, the Fiat 500X.

There are plenty of different engines to choose from, including the recent hybrid variants. These feature throughout the different trim levels – Limited, Longitudinal and Trailhawk.
You also get the brilliant Jeep reputation for capable and well-built SUVs with off-roading ability. It’s an ideal option for any motorist looking for a rough, outdoorsy model that’s still practical for daily use.
Popular Jeep Renegade trims
There aren’t many trim levels to have to consider with most Jeep models, including the Renegade, which makes picking one easy. They’re all loaded with kit, too.
> Jeep Renegade Limited - Entry-level model with digital instrument cluster, rear parking sensors and lots of safety kit
> Jeep Renegade Upland - Newer mid-spec variant with LED headlights, tinted windows and more
> Jeep Renegade Trailhawk - Flagship version with all-round parking sensors, cruise control and more premium materials
Jeep Renegade history
There’s only been one version of the Jeep Renegade for sale, but the off-roading brand has updated it plenty of times to keep it looking and feeling fresh.
> Jeep Renegade (2014) - The brand’s smallest SUV available with or without four-wheel drive
> Jeep Renegade facelift (2019) - Minor exterior styling changes and improved interior car tech
> Jeep Renegade plug-in hybrid (2020) - Plug-in hybrid 4x4 model added to the range (badged 4xe)
> Jeep Renegade mild hybrid (2022) - New mild hybrid powertrain added (badged e-Hybrid)
Inside, the Jeep Renegade is a spacious and practical car, despite it not looking all that big from the outside.
Standard equipment available includes electric mirrors, dual-zone air-con and parking sensors.
Every Jeep Renegade for sale also comes with lots of nods to the car’s ancestors, including brake lights designed to resemble US Army petrol cans, mud splatter graphics on the rev counter and little Jeep graphics dotted around the place.
In addition to this, every model from 2018 comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. There's also built-in sat-nav, USB charging capabilities and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Renegade offers 351 litres of boot space, which grows to 1,297 litres once the rear seats are folded flat. There's also a decent amount of interior cabin space for up to five passengers.
