Start nowThe Nissan Juke is a quirky compact crossover with a unique design, both inside and out. There have been two generations of the Juke, and while both are clearly related, the newer model has an overall better fit and finish.
Popular Nissan Juke trims
Nissan tends to use the same trim level names across most of its models, which helps make them easier to navigate. You can pick a model on a scale of affordable to outright luxuriousness, with top-spec Tekna+ cars getting more than your typical crossover.
> Nissan Juke Acenta Premium - base-spec car with a 12.3-inch infotainment display, reversing camera and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
> Nissan Juke N-Connecta - mid-spec car with a digital instrument cluster, all-round parking sensors and wireless phone charger
> Nissan Juke Tekna - popular high-spec car with a 360-degree parking camera, heated front seats and heated steering wheel
Nissan Juke history
Following on from the success of the Qashqai (one of the first models to make modern family SUVs popular), the Juke launched in 2010.
> First-generation Nissan Juke (2010) - eye-catching design with many parts borrowed from Renault
> Nissan Juke facelift (2014) - styling revisions including a sharper front end as well as more standard equipment
> Second-generation Nissan Juke (2019) - similar styling cues with a smoother, cleaner finish and improved tech
> Nissan Juke Hybrid (2022) - hybrid option joins the only other engine, a punchy petrol with manual and automatic gearboxes
There have been so many updates to the Juke range over the two generations that it’s worth checking any individual listing.
As a guide, facelifted models built after the introduction of the hybrid system in 2022 come with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other tech includes a reversing camera and an electric parking brake.
Mid-spec cars and above add worthwhile features like front and rear parking sensors, an upgraded climate control system, keyless entry and a slick digital instrument cluster.
Consumer reports typically place the Juke in an average range for reliability, with many drivers praising the unique styling and pleasant driving experience. Some common issues involve the electronics and the transmission (in particular, the CVT gearbox), but most drivers report fuss-free ownership.
Although it’s SUV-sized, the Nissan Juke might cost only slightly more than a hatchback to run. The most common engines are the 1.0- and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrols, which should do around 40mpg. If cutting fuel costs is important to you, consider the clever hybrid which should be able to add another 10mpg.
A used Nissan Juke for sale carries a lot of appeal, because it’s compact enough to be manageable in towns and cities, but it has enough interior space for a growing family.
It’s also an affordable alternative to more premium brands, but you won’t have to do without some more luxurious features on the higher-end models.
Other similar crossovers include the Renault Captur, Citroen C3 Aircross, Fiat 500X and Peugeot 2008.
Yes, the companies have an agreement which means that the petrol, diesel and hybrid engines all stem from Renault.
Although the diesel offers slightly improved fuel economy on the motorway, most drivers spend a lot of their time around town. One of the smaller, turbocharged petrols would offer the best balance.
We recommend finding a newer, second-generation model, because you won’t have to find such a high-spec car. Consider an N-Connecta model with the 1.0-litre petrol engine.
Yes, the Qashqai is notably bigger than the Juke. It’s 210mm longer, 38mm wider and 40mm taller. The boot is only 58 litres larger, though, which is more of a positive reflection on the Juke than a negative one on the Qashqai.
Prior to April 2017, car tax was based entirely on CO2 emissions. Different diesel models usually costed £20-30 a year to tax. After the rules changed, all diesel models became £190 to tax, so if you’re after a diesel, it’s worth finding a slightly older model.
