Start nowThere’s only one battery and motor combination on offer for the SsangYong Korando e-Motion. However, drop the ‘e-Motion’ and you have the regular Korando, which is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Popular SsangYong Korando e-Motion trims
There aren’t any trim levels on offer, which is absolutely fine, because standard equipment is reasonably generous.

SsangYong Korando e-Motion history
Although the regular Korando went on sale in its fourth-generation guise in 2019, the electric model didn’t arrive until later in 2022.

Although there are no trim levels on offer, the Korando e-Motion is loosely based on high-spec versions of the petrol-powered Korando.
You get front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats and a powered boot lid.
There’s a pair of large displays for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. TomTom-powered sat-nav is built-in.
The Korando e-Motion is designed to be durable. SsangYong might not have the same solid reputation as other South Korean companies like Kia and Hyundai, but used Korando e-Motions have proven to be dependable. The Korando e-Motion also benefits from an impressive seven-year warranty.
The 61.5kWh battery could cost as little as £4.30 to top up on the cheapest off-peak tariffs (7p/kWh), with a range of more than 200 miles possible.
A used SsangYong Korando e-Motion for sale will sit in insurance group 32, which is fairly high. But don’t forget it’s fairly affordable to buy, and insurance prices are influenced by personal factors as well as insurance groups.
A used SsangYong Korando e-Motion is suitable if you need the extra passenger and boot space of a crossover without the high running costs of an SUV.
It’s great around towns and cities, where SsangYong reckons you can get over 300 miles of range, but it still has an impressive range at motorway speeds.
Other affordable electric crossovers include the MG ZS EV, Peugeot e-2008 and Toyota bZ4X.
SsangYong’s official tests saw the Korando e-Motion achieve 211 miles of range with mixed driving. However, slower speeds around towns and cities resulted in an impressive range of 309 miles, so mixed driving should be somewhere in between.
As with any electric car, budget for 10-25% less than the claimed range and you should be good to go.
SsangYong parts don’t tend to be expensive, but the electric version also has an impressive seven-year/90,000-mile warranty. Petrol and diesel models have a shorter five-year warranty.
Being an electric car, the e-Motion variant is free to tax up until the tax year starting April 2025. From then, all EVs will fall into the cheapest bracket, which is £190 in the 2024 tax year.
Although the SsangYong Korando e-Motion is a front-wheel-drive model, it still has impressive SUV-like characteristics, including a 1,500kg towing limit.
The petrol model is also front-wheel-drive, but the diesel car sold up until 2021 was available with four-wheel drive.
In 2022, SsangYong became KGM Motors. Although it still offers the same cars, it also launched the new Torres.
