Toyota
C-HR
Use our Help Me Choose tool to go from 1000s of cars to just a handful of recommendations — and cinch your search.
Start nowThe Toyota C-HR is primarily a fuel-efficient crossover, but it also benefits from excellent style and great build quality, all at an affordable price.
First launched in 2016, it has since seen incremental yet important improvements, including the introduction of a second generation in late 2023.
It was originally launched as a more stylish hybrid alternative to a RAV-4. Its rather wide stance and low roofline set it apart from some of its rivals and give it a more sporty look.
Despite being marketed as a hybrid, there are some petrol-powered variants kicking around that are perfect for someone not ready to make the jump just yet.
Popular Toyota C-HR trims
The usual array of Toyota trim levels are on offer, with even the basic models coming with plenty of kit.
> Toyota C-HR Icon - The Icon is an affordable model with keyless entry and reversing camera
> Toyota C-HR Excel - The Excel is a high-spec car with heated seats and leather upholstery
> Toyota C-HR GR Sport - The GR Sport is a sporty-looking pick with high levels of equipment
Toyota C-HR history
The first-generation model was on sale for around seven years before being replaced by a new generation.
> First-generation Toyota C-HR (2016) - Stylish, practical and efficient alternative to other SUVs
> Facelifted Toyota C-HR (2019) - More powerful hybrid option and more kit with trim level changes
> Second-generation Toyota C-HR (2023) - Futuristic upgrade with lots of car tech inside
Inside, the Toyota C-HR has very functional and simple-to-use controls, making it easy for a newcomer to familiarise themselves with it.
Models from 2019 onwards feature Toyota’s Touch 2 infotainment system, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. All models also have a reversing camera on the clear and bright screen.
Every trim level gets LED running lamps, climate control, automatic lights and wipers and adaptive cruise control.
Some optional extras, depending on the model year, include keyless entry, power-folding mirrors, parking assist, heated seats and an uprated JBL sound system.
For decades, Toyota has been renowned for its reliability, and despite having a complex hybrid system, the C-HR is no different. The C-HR uses many tried-and-tested components, helping it to stay as reliable as possible.
Even though the 1.2-litre petrol engine is economical, many drivers go for the 1.8-litre or 2.0-litre hybrids, which should be able to get around 60mpg in most conditions, including town and long-distance driving.
Buyers will enjoy the style and practicality of a Toyota C-HR hybrid for sale, so it’s a car you could happily buy without it being a very economical pick (which it is).
You may also wish to consider a Honda HR-V or Renault Arkana, which are both available with hybrid options.
For decades, Toyota has been renowned for its reliability, and despite having a complex hybrid system, the C-HR is no different. The C-HR uses many tried-and-tested components, helping it to stay as reliable as possible.
All Toyota C-HR used models from 2019 onwards come with wireless Apple CarPlay.
The two outer rear seats come with Isofix child seat connectors.
The Toyota C-HR hybrid for sale is the brand’s smallest crossover SUV, sitting just below the very popular RAV-4.
Despite its coupé-inspired name, all Toyota C-HR used models come with four doors.
