Use our Help Me Choose tool to go from 1000s of cars to just a handful of recommendations — and cinch your search.
Start nowThe Audi Q7 is one of the largest SUVs the German brand makes, and with that comes great levels of practicality. Plus, all the comfort and safety you’d expect from a premium car.
It's packed with the latest and greatest technology, from a large virtual cockpit to some of the best safety tech in the game. There aren’t many better ways to carry the family around.
And it’s reliable, too. Audi is part of the VW Group, so the Q7 shares parts with other Audi models and cars on the same platform, such as the Bentley Bentayga, Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, and Lamborghini Urus.
You also benefit from the high-quality and dependable manufacturing that comes hand-in-hand with the Audi name.
Popular Audi Q7 trims
There are a wide range of used Audi Q7 models to choose from, including an efficient hybrid model and choices for trims. Plus, you can save money by opting for a used Audi model.
> Audi Q7 S line – sporty look and all the tech you really need from a family SUV, the base model kicks off the range nicely
> Audi Q7 Black Edition – adding black details, this trim also gets adaptive sports suspension for improved handling
> Audi Q7 Vorsprung – top-spec with all the features, from larger 22-inch wheels to a panoramic sunroof and a powerful Bang & Olufsen sound system
Audi Q7 history
Not only is the Q7 the first SUV Audi ever made, but it was one of the first properly big SUVs you could buy.
In many ways, this and the Range Rover kicked off the trend of luxurious, large, high-up family cars – and now look at how many there are.
> First-generation Audi Q7 (2006-2015) - the first of its kind, offering masses of boot space, big, powerful engines and style
> Second-generation Audi Q7 (2015-present) - adding a plug-in hybrid variant and a styling change, this is probably the one to have if you care about tech
Inside, the Q7 is a very pleasant place to be. Luxurious leather covers the seats and dashboard, and the panoramic sunroof creates an airier feel inside the cabin.
Standard kit across the range includes Bluetooth, heated electric seats, Audi’s 12.3-inch virtual cockpit that replaces the traditional dials, and a 10.1-inch central display.
Audi’s MMI Touch infotainment system works like a dream and is very smooth and responsive. It's also available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Some used models may come with the optional Comfort and Sound pack, which introduces a 360-degree camera, keyless entry and start, ambient LED lighting and a very powerful 730-watt, 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
The boot itself measures in at 770 litres as standard, reducing to 295 litres with the third row of seats up.
You can also fold the second row of seats down for 1,955 litres of space, which is nearly 100 litres more than that of its Volvo XC90 rival.
You can see the full range of features in each model by checking our current used Audi Q7 listings.
On the whole, Audis are very reliable cars – especially ones that are cared for properly.
Granted, they’re a little more expensive to maintain than less premium brands, but if you follow regular servicing, you shouldn’t encounter any issues.
All Audi Q7s also come from the factory with a three-year warranty.
There are a range of engines on offer with the Q7 – diesels, petrols and hybrids.
The petrol engine in the 55 TFSI model is a 3.0-litre unit that produces 340hp and is said to return up to 25.7mpg, according to Audi.
This engine is best suited to those who do shorter drives, because that’s where petrol-powered SUVs tend to lie.
The entry-level diesel engine in the 45 TDI model is a turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel V6 that produces 231hp and is very happy on longer motorway journeys, but will start to run out of breath if you push it too hard.
If you plan on lugging lots of stuff around, carrying up to seven people and towing a trailer, then there is only one engine for you.
This is the mighty 3.0-litre V6 diesel found in the 50 TDI model, which produces 286hp.
Not only does it have the most pulling power, but it should also return up to 30mpg in normal driving conditions.
There’s now also a Q7 plug-in hybrid on offer, perfect for higher levels of fuel efficiency and cutting back on running costs.
If you’re in need of a massive German SUV, there’s nowhere else to look but the Audi Q7. It’s big, it’s brash and it’s everything you’d need.
It doesn’t come without competition, mind. Its main rivals include the BMW X7, Mercedes GLE and Porsche Cayenne.
The Audi Q7 has three rows of seating, providing ample space for seven passengers.
Its versatile interior and ample cargo capacity make it an ideal choice for families seeking both comfort and practicality.
The Q7's quattro system adjusts power distribution to each wheel based on the road conditions.
Combined with selectable driving modes, it enhances performance on different terrains such as snow, sand, mud and rocks.
Audi claims the Q7 can achieve between 26 and 35mpg but this will vary depending on how full the car is and how it's being driven.
Audi offers various options and packages for the Q7 to enhance luxury, including premium materials, advanced tech and upgraded audio systems.
The Audi Q7 can seat up to seven passengers, providing lots of space for larger groups or families.
