Popular Kia Ceed trims
Kia likes to keep things simple by numbering most of its trim levels, so you know where you stand without having to remember fancy names.
> Kia Ceed 2 – despite being the entry-level model, you still get great features like a seven-inch touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth and LED brake lights
> Kia Ceed 3 – this is a higher-spec car with optional tinted windows, cruise control and automatic wipers
> Kia Ceed GT-Line – adds heated front seats and steering wheel and a reversing camera to ‘3’ equipment
> Kia Ceed GT-Line S – top-spec model with 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, heated front and rear seats plus an eight-speaker JBL sound system
Kia Ceed history
The Kia Ceed has been around for many years now, seeing various generations and facelifts.
> First-generation Kia Ceed (2006-2012) - sharing its platform with the Hyundai i30, the Ceed was Kia’s attempt at taking on the VW Golf
> Second-generation Kia Ceed (2012-2018) - with a more refined look and more efficient engines, the second Ceed grew in popularity
> Third-generation Kia Ceed (2018-present) - this was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show with a more aggressive look and improved interior
Kia Ceed body styles
> Kia Ceed hatchback – a five-door hatchback with plenty of space but in a compact design
> Kia Ceed estate (Ceed SW) – offers more space than the hatch, with a much larger boot
> Kia Ceed shooting brake (Proceed) – the sleekest offering with estate-like practicality
> Kia XCeed SUV – the largest with a higher driving position and SUV styling
The Ceed’s interior has changed quite a lot over the years, but the car’s infotainment system options have broadly remained the same.
For example, the lower Ceed 2 spec has a smaller seven-inch display that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while the Ceed 3 features a larger 10.25-inch display.
The Ceed GT-Line gets an additional sporty body kit, plus heated steering wheel and front seats, and keyless entry and start.
The boot on the Ceed measures in at 395 litres, beating the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. The Ceed also has a split-level boot floor so you can store more items under there, or fold the rear seats down to create a longer loading bay for larger items.
You can see the full range of features in each model by checking our latest used Kia Ceed listings.
Part of the pull of a used Ceed is the reliability and great value that comes along with the Kia brand.
It’s no secret that Kia makes some of the most dependable cars on the market, and the Ceed is up there with the best.
Kia doesn’t offer a seven-year warranty for nothing.
The entry-level Ceed comes with a 120hp 1.0-litre petrol engine perfect for most people’s daily driving tasks, and Kia claims it will return up to a very healthy 52.3mpg.
Moving up the ranks is the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 140hp and is much more comfortable on the occasional longer motorway journey.
However, if you plan on doing more motorway miles, then we would recommend checking out the 115hp 1.6-litre diesel engine, which Kia says will return up to 74.3mpg.
Last but not least, if speed and power are in the forefront of your mind, then we would suggest checking out the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in the sportier GT models.
This engine produces 204hp and will reach 62mph from a standstill in 7.8 seconds.
A used Kia Ceed is the sort of classless car that can fit into anyone’s lifestyle.
Thankfully, there are four different body styles to pick from, which gives you lots of flexibility.
If you’re wondering whether a VW Golf or Hyundai i30 is for you, perhaps a Ceed is what you need.
You can get a used Ceed on finance, but the costs will depend on the model you choose and the type of finance deal.

Even if you're buying used, Kia has a great reputation for reliable cars and the Ceed is no different. It's well built and easily maintained, so should give you a really good run.
The ‘Ceed’ name actually stands for ‘Community of Europe, with European Design’ – but don’t ask us what that means!
The Ceed is built exclusively for the European market and is assembled in Slovakia.
We think a used Ceed would make a great family car because of its strong levels of reliability, good looks, practicality and frugal nature. It would be the perfect car for any family not wishing to spend a lot more on a German alternative.
