Start nowThe Peugeot 3008 used to be a unique-looking MPV with a smart interior, but the second generation changed this out for an SUV, and that’s what you’ll find mostly on cinch. A third generation, launched in 2024, continues with the SUV theme, but with more of a coupé look.
Popular Peugeot 3008 trims
Peugeot only offers the 3008 in a handful of trim levels, which makes it an easy car to understand, but standard kit varies by model year. Below are some popular picks from the second-generation 3008’s final years on sale.
> Peugeot 3008 Active - entry-level car with dual-zone climate control, smartphone mirroring and reversing camera
> Peugeot 3008 Allure - well-equipped model with keyless entry, upgraded infotainment display and automatic high beams
> Peugeot 3008 GT - range-topper with adaptive cruise control, upgraded LED headlights and aggressive styling tweaks
Peugeot 3008 history
Peugeot launched the second-generation 3008 as an SUV in 2016. After a few mid-life updates, a replacement was announced in 2023, which went on sale in 2024 with electric and hybrid power options.
> Second-generation Peugeot 3008 (2016) - one of the earliest models to feature Peugeot’s new design philosophy – it looks just as smart today as when launched
> Peugeot 3008 facelift (2020) - some styling changes to keep in line with the rest of the Peugeot range and improvements to in-car technology
> Third-generation Peugeot 3008 (2024) - bigger and more luxurious coupé-SUV with various electrified powertrains and Peugeot’s latest, high-tech interior
Standard kit can vary a lot depending on model year. As a guide, later second-generation models sold after the facelift will usually come with dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, cruise control, a reversing camera with rear parking sensors and push-button start.
Alongside the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is an eight-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, however higher-spec Allure and GT models have a bigger 10-inch display with a few extra features, including a built-in sat-nav and voice recognition.
Third-generation models come with a huge 21-inch multi-display setup, customisable digital shortcut keys (called i-Toggles), keyless entry and plenty of LED lighting both inside and out.
Yes – the 3008 has always shared many of its parts, including engines and gearboxes, with Citroen and DS. The second- and third-generation cars also share parts with Vauxhall and other companies.
All of this helps improve dependability by using tried and tested parts. Consumer satisfaction surveys typically speak highly of the 3008’s reliability and build quality.
Don’t be put off by its SUV stance, because even with the popular, punchy 1.2-litre petrol engine, you could see around 40mpg (or up to 50mpg with the mild hybrid version).
Diesels are even more economical, especially if you’re likely to do lots of motorway miles, but it’s best that you avoid the regular 1.6-litre petrol if fuel economy is important to you.
Apart from the plug-in hybrid models, which offer around 30 miles of electric motoring, and the new electric-only models, other costs like insurance and maintenance tend to be cheap, too.
The Peugeot 3008 is an excellent compact family SUV for growing families who need a bit of extra space. It’s still manageable enough around towns and car parks, but it offers enough passenger and boot space to keep up with most demands.
Although other SUVs, like the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Ford Kuga, are available, few come as close to offering the Peugeot’s sporty handling and exceptional value for money.
The Kia Sportage is bigger than the Peugeot 3008 in all three dimensions. Its 591-litre boot is also bigger than the Peugeot’s 520-litre space.
Second-generation petrol models have a 53-litre petrol tank, which equates to around 550-600 miles of motoring between fills. The plug-in hybrid has a smaller 43-litre tank to make room for the batteries, but its 30-40-mile range means that the total from electric and petrol power might be less than just the petrol model.
Over the years, different specifications have been available. Allure and Allure Premium cars are well-appointed, but GT (Premium) and GT Line (Premium) cars have slightly more, plus a sharper design.
When it first went on sale, entry-level models started at around £22,000, but by the end of the second-generation model’s time on sale, prices had crept up to at least £32,000, or closer to £40,000 for hybrid models.
Third-generation cars cost around £35,000, or £45,000 for the e-3008.
The only four-wheel-drive Peugeot 3008 you can get is the 300hp 1.6-litre plug-in hybrid – any other model, including the lesser-powered hybrids, will be front-wheel-drive only.
